001. When joining us here at Live Like You Were Dying, we ask that you please change your display name to the first middle and last name of your character, all in capital letters. If you don't know how to do this, then the staff members will be more then happy to change this for you. No symbols or special fonts are to be used.
002. When creating your characters application, please pay careful attention to the formatting of the application. There are capitals in some places, codes for colours and stars that need to be removed in order for the coding to work properly, so please do your best to keep these as neat as possible. Everyone is required to finish an application before they are allowed to post anywhere, with the exception of the face claim thread, where you are permitted to reserve a face for a five day period. That is the same amount of time allowed for the application to be posted and finished. After the five day period, all unfinished and abandoned applications will be denied, locked and moved.
003. When it comes to the content of your roleplaying, there are a few things we require. Firstly, at no time are you permitted to god-mod or power play. Don't know what that is? Lord Google is your friend. Secondly, all content must abide with Proboards TOS, meaning that it cannot be more then PG-13 in rating. Sexual encounters should fade to black or skip ahead, and should not be happening unless the roleplayer you are working with is at least sixteen years of age. This is a rule exclusive to Live Like You Were Dying, so we ask that you abide by it.
004. Here at Live Like You Were Dying, we like everyone to be happy and comfortable here. This means that though you might not always agree with someone, you need to be nice about things. Racial discrimination, discrimination against sexual orientation, offensive language and nasty comments will not be tolerated. If at any time you feel that you are being attacked by another member, simply PM a member of staff and we will address the issue for you. This goes for PM, cbox and ooc comments in threads. As well, the cbox is not a place to advertise. Advertising should occur only in the correct board and nowhere else.
005. We will not limit the number of characters that you create, but we do ask that you keep them all active. Though we do ask that for every two females, you create one male so that we don't have to worry about genders getting insanely out of hand. Also, variety is loved. If you make a senior female, why not consider an adult or a freshman male? All characters are permitted to be no younger then seventeen, and there is no limit to the maximum age that they reach if they are adults.
006. When creating your characters, please keep in mind the Mary-Sue, Gary-Stu factor. And we ask that no characters created have any relation to the canons from another fandom. We don't want to see anyone with the name Edward Cullen or Harry Potter walking around. Please note that some positions of power within the roleplay will not be given out lightly, and you must be an advanced roleplayer in order to be considered for one.
007. The standard word count for our site is 300, which means that we'd like to see at least that many words in a reply, minus any coding and graphics you might have to make your posts pretty. That being said, if someone gives you a 2000 word reply, do your best to give them enough to work with in reply. Sometimes people cannot operate off of exactly 400 words. Anyone who is consistently posting below this will be spoken to. We are a literate to advanced site, so let's get those creative juices flowing.
008. When it comes to the faces that you wish to use on your character, we have but a few little things we'd like you to consider. We'll accept models, musicians, actors, Disney kids etc. But we do not want to see Myspace faces, Youtube personalities, anime or cartoon characters here. Scene kids are not banned, but please do not be offended if the staff request that you change your face. And as long as you try to fit them into a member group that they appear to be in age, there won't be issues either. Please don't try to pass someone like Jeff Bridges off as fourty something, or Nicole Kidman as a twenty-three year old senior. That just doesn't work.
009. And most importantly, have fun. The staff are here to ensure that everyone has a great time and gets along, so don't hesitate to come to us if something goes wrong or you don't feel comfortable around someone. These rules are subject to change at any time, so please stay tuned to them and make sure that you check back every so often to see if anything has changed. Oh, and you should know that there is no password for the application. However, anyone caught breaking any of our rules will be subjected to messages of warning from staff as well as verbal warnings through the cbox if required. To see how the warning system will work, please refer to that thread.
